- Project Sync (optional module): Project Sync is a companion application for Chorus, which is installed on your desktop Windows or macOS devices. Files and folders in Chorus are synchronized to the local hard drives of the desktop computers and then monitored for changes. As you add and edit files locally or in Chorus, Project Sync updates the files and folders on all devices. All users synchronizing the same folders are updated in parallel. This provides a very efficient, streamlined workflow for creative teams. Note: a 30-day trial of Project Sync is available to all customers. Documentation...
- Comments (optional module): The Comments module introduces a way for users to discuss content inside Chorus. A chat window allows for text, emoji and files from Chorus to be discussed in a familiar scrolling window inside each container. The Comments modules is ideal for approvals, requests, reviews and other processes where a team needs to agree work together, without leaving Chorus.
- Activity and Statistics dashboard: A powerful new dashboard has been added to the Tools menu, to help monitor and review activity in Chorus. The Activity tab presents all the relevant information about what is happening in a space in an easy to navigate format. In the Statistics tab you can view statistics for spaces, files and users; you can also find out if a shared link has been opened, by which person, and if its files have been downloaded. All of this information can also be exported or sent to your email weekly. Documentation...
- User interface improvements: In list view, the number of files in the container is now displayed (including sub-containers). The "Everyone" and "Site Admin" tokens have been moved to the top of the user list in the Space manager. When an attached file is marked as expired, the paperclip icon now has a red background.
- Editing metadata: When overriding inherited metadata, the inherit/revert buttons have been improved and redesigned. When entering a single keyword, it is not necessary to hit enter - the keyword will be added when clicking "Save".
- Downloads: Previous revisions of a file can now be downloaded directly, without switching to them first. When selecting multiple files and then performing the "custom crop" or "create derivative" action, all files now stay selected in the tool by default.
- Private Collections: It is now possible to create a new private collection using the "Add to Collection" tool.
- Workflow: The "Show labels" option is now enabled by default in workflow requests.
- Search and facets: Facets with no results are now hidden, to make the facets list more manageable.
- Sharing: If a user clicks a file link but first needs to log into Chorus, the link will now open after completing the login step. When sharing, "share" and "share as link" permissions are now ticked by default. Collections or folders that are shared with multiple people now show everyone's avatar in the thumbnail, also from the point of view of the people receiving the share.
- Other changes: A plain text link has been added to Chorus password reset emails. Internet Explorer 11 users will see a warning that their browser is not supported, but may still proceed to use Chorus. Revisions now use local time zone of the user. External users can now change their own name. When receiving a share with share permissions, a user will now be able to add more people to that share. The first revision of a file now shows who uploaded it.
- API and developers: GUIDs for Chorus' main objects (folders, files, users, spaces) are now available in the preview console, to simplify development of API-based projects.
- User interface: Chorus 3.0 includes a large number of small text, layout and other usability changes.
- Sharing: When sharing as link, the "Allow download all" option is now greyed-out if "allow download of originals" is not ticked (previously it could be enabled but would not work).
- Uploads: Improved handling of the upload queue, including resolving a crash when finalising certain uploads.
- Core graphics: Resolved an issue where shared links with a single watermarked PDF were displayed with a black background, rendering the PDF unreadable.
- Sharing: Resolved a problem where sharing contents of a folder found via search would lead to a crash. Direct links now stop working when a file is sent to the recycle bin. Resolved an issue where very large shared links could crash.
- Derivatives: Derivatives with a different file type now show the correct, new file type instead of the one of the original file. Removed the option of creating a derivative of an expired file.
- Smart Collections: When a Smart Collection is in the recycle bin, it will now appear empty instead of searching within the recycle bin.
- Performance and other fixes: The user interface now reacts better to the browser window width being reduced. The file sizes of previews have been improved. Improvements have been made to the stability of batch renaming. We have removed the "Uploads" category from the Audit Log, as this was not used. We have reinstated the "Attach" action for Chorus sites that do not have the optional Workflow module. A problem with the GetUserDetails() API method has been fixed for external users.
- Data Center Edition: Improvements to the ISO installer, self-monitoring features and other low-level microservices are included in Chorus 3.0 and will be upgraded automatically where appropriate.
- Private Collections: A new type of collection that lets you group files for your own use without worrying about permissions.
- Preview console enhancements: The metadata editor on the console for an image now provides a larger input box when text exceeds the initial input box size. It is now clearer how to choose an icon when editing a label. When viewing the metadata tab in the console, Chorus expands the space allocated to large metadata fields. The filename of the current file is now displayed above the tabs to assist with navigation. A new Collections tab has been added to the console, to show where a file has been used in Chorus by other users. Read-only metadata fields now show their value when in Edit mode. A download button has been added to each revision on the Revisions tab. The user's permissions are now displayed on the Info tab. Styling and headings are now consistent between all of the tabs.
- Moving files from a search or Smart Collection: Chorus now allows files in search results to be selected and moved, either using the actions menu or dragging and dropping in split-pane mode. The user performing the move will need to have appropriate permissions, as expected.
- Space management: There is now an option in the Space manager to set multiple users' home space to the current Space. This is useful where users do not yet have a home space, as a user's home space defines their metadata catalogs, theme and download presets.
- User interface improvements: A number of minor user interface changes have been included to improve consistency. These changes include layouts and wording on features such as the GPS location maps, modal forms and tooltips.
- Data Center Edition: This update includes various automated housekeeping tasks and optimizations which reduce overheads on the server storage, such as clearing unnecessary copies of old versions of Chorus packages and pruning records of completed uploads.
- Bug fixes, performance and security updates: PDF previews are now generated with ProPhoto, providing enhanced quality and fidelity. The Chorus REST API has additional protection against denial of service attacks. Deleting an API key now immediately invalidates all existing sessions that were using the key.
- Path URLs: Path URLs provide the ability to point to a location in Chorus. Path URLs can be copied to your clipboard from the preview console or the navigation breadcrumb when browsing folders. A Path URL can be sent to another Chorus user, and when clicked takes that user directly to the same location in Chorus. The receipient will see a warning if they cannot open the Path URL (for example, if they do not have permission to reach the same part of Chorus as the originating user). Documentation...
- ProPhoto support: Previews and thumbnails are now displayed using ProPhoto, a wide-gamut color profile supporting extended colour, brightness and tonal quality. This allows professional, high-quality images to be viewed without loss of detail on modern displays. Please note: ProPhoto will be used for files uploaded after Chorus 2.7 is installed.
- WebP images: Chorus can now read and write WebP files. WebP is a graphics file format that supports lossless or lossy compression, leading to smaller files with superior quality on the web.
- User interface improvements: Various alerts and dialogue boxes have been updated to improve clarity. The "Request to use" workflow action has been renamed to "Usage approval" and the Workflow dashboard now defaults to outbound requests if there are no inbound requests waiting.
- Published content Video embed codes from Chorus now work correctly on mobile devices. The Professional theme for published links now supports downloads when used to link to a single file.
- Security updates: When changing your Chorus password, all existing login sessions are invalidated. macOS and iOS "Suggest new password" features have been enabled and Chorus password policy features are now enforced. Session tokens have been revised to follow new security guidance; as a result of the additional security measures added, it will not be possible to log into two Chorus accounts in two tabs of the same web browser. Content Security Policy, XML and Referrer Policy, headers for the gRPC/REST API and API request validation policies have been adopted to disable unnecessary features and limit misuse. Chorus' SFTP service has been security-hardened. CSV file exports now include data cleansing on metadata field names.
- Bug fixes and performance:Generation of office document previews is now handled in a separate service to provide improved resilience and performance. Custom cropping with 'keep ratio' selected is now working correctly. Shared links with over 700 files are now generated faster. Resolves intermittent spinners when adding a metadata panel to a space, viewing a large number of files in the audit log or using the Space Manager on spaces with a large number of folders. Fixes for filename extensions in labels and paths in the Workflow dashboard. Fixes for the folder permissions menu. Improved search caching for more consistent performance.
- Integrations: Thumbnails, previews, movie streams and direct links can now be used as iframe sources.
- Metadata & External User Imports: Display of import actions has been corrected.
- User interface: Notes text is wrapped properly in the Site setup tool.
- Import/export External Users: External Users are accounts with limited functionality, intended to simplify granting access to occasional users. These users can now be imported from a CSV file, or exported to a CSV file to assist with editing and copying user lists between spaces. These tools are accessed from the Space manager under the External Users tab (Documentation).
- Search performance: New highly-optimized search functionality is up to 800% faster than Chorus 2.5. This improvement also benefits search facet generation (guided search suggestions with clickable metadata). The improvement is especially noticeable on very large Chorus sites with a lot of metadata.
- "Download With Note" workflow: A new workflow option has been added to require a note to be left prior to using a file. It can be associated with downloading, sharing or publishing. Once a note has been provided, this workflow will approve the usage immediately. This provides record-keeping to help site administrators, and ensures accountability where required, for example with GDPR compliance. (Documentation).
- Aspect ratio lock: A "keep ratio" option has been added to the cropping tool, to allow the aspect ratio to be fixed to the same as the original file.
- User interface improvements: Pressing the Escape key when editing metadata now closes the keywords dropdown, if open, instead of exiting the edit mode. When viewing the contents of a collection, a button to remove the current file from the collection has been added to the preview console toolbox. The folder picker, pinboard and date picker features have been improved. Clicking 'View' inside a notification about a new share now opens the shared folder directly. Users can now add shared metadata panels to their private space. When adding files to a shared collection, Chorus provides new alerts with helpful feedback to explain if permissions are missing.
- Derivatives: Replacing a file having one or more derivatives no longer changes the file name of the derivatives. Creating derivatives in EPS format no longer causes a crash. Derivatives of video files can now be downloaded. An issue with thumbnails having the wrong aspect ratios has been resolved. Derivatives are no longer referenced if they have been deleted and are in the recycle bin.
- Themes: Minor bug fixes in the published link themes, including adding better responsive behaviour for smaller displays and correcting issues with download permissions in the Masonry theme.
- User interface fixes: Dragging a file from a smart collection to a collection now works as expected. Deleting a file in the console view by pressing Delete on the keyboard now works as expected. Deleting the last item in a set of files being previewed no longer causes a crash. Uploading a file in split-pane mode now places the file into the expected pane. The "Generate URL" button now displays correctly on iPad Pros.
- Bug fixes, performance and security updates: The performance of Microsoft Edge browsers when viewing sites with many search facets has been significantly improved. Various improvements have been made to the stability and performance of micro-services.

- IMS v6 Migrations: Additional configuration is supported to control the number of failed files before an import is abandoned.
- Mobile Upload App: Third Light is pleased to provide a new mobile app allowing uploads via wifi or mobile data. The app supports images and videos, dynamic resizing, and can capture GPS location data. It is available for iOS and Android, and is free of charge for all Chorus customers.
- Derivatives: Chorus can now create and organize variants of existing files (for example, a JPEG variant of a PSD file). Once created, derivatives can be organized as if they are files, making it as easy to use and share them as all other content. Chorus automatically cascades changes to derivatives, if the original source file is updated or replaced with a new revision. Documentation...
