Introduction to this page

Chorus provides a file attachment tool to help you attach a file or files to other files.

When a file has an attachment, you will see a paperclip icon in the top right of its thumbnails. This can be clicked to view the attachment.

When a file has been attached to another file, you will see a paperclip icon with an arrow, in the bottom right of its thumbnail. This can be clicked to view every file that has this file as an attachment.

Attaching a file to another file

Step-by-step:

1. First, click on the file (or select multiple files) which you want to attach.

2. In the right hand menu, click Attach to...

3. The display will now change to a split view (double viewing panes). If you have not used this view before, there is more information on how Chorus uses double viewing panes to help you with drag-and-drop and other time-saving features here: B3.1 Work with double viewing panes.

4. Keep the file or files you want to attach in one pane. Use the other pane to navigate to the files to which you will attach the files.

For example, in the screenshot below the left hand pane contains a number of images, and the right hand pane contains a PDF of legal terms. The PDF will be attached to the photos.

Select (by clicking of tapping) the files which will receive the new attachment. You must select at least one file, or click Cancel to quit.

5. When you are ready, click "Attach" to complete the attachment or attachments.

The thumbnails will now have a paperclip attached to their thumbnails in the top right corner. The PDF thumbnail indicates that it is attached to files, using a paperclip in the bottom right hand corner with an outbound arrow.

Good to know: Attachments are managed by Chorus as collections of files. When you see a file with an attachment, you can view the attachments using the right-hand tools (Attachments → View attachments).
