Convert Images From Any Graphics Format

Third Light IMS includes a powerful download tool, that allows you and your customers to retrieve image data from IMS at specific resolutions, document sizes and crop.

Images can be retrieved in any supported format, not just the original file format. For example, you can upload a TIFF but download a JPEG. This tool is designed to offer a realistic alternative to expensive desktop graphics packages.

Interested in trying it out? We're pleased to provide a tool designed to make quick image editing jobs simple for anyone on the web. Our free online image converter provides a convenient web interface for resizing, cropping, tagging and converting a wide range of common image formats. Documentation...

Publish files as URLs

IMS is the perfect media server for your network, allowing you to serve images, videos and other content through our Publishing tool. When a file is 'published', instead of interactively downloading the file through IMS, it can be accessed directly with a fixed URL from your IMS server.

Publishing files through IMS avoids downloading copies, and provides enhanced tracking on how files are used. For example, published files can be embedded in your intranet as tags, or referred to in emails directly. Each time the file is loaded your IMS server will record the additional hit and update the graphs as well as other internal auditing logs. Using publishing allows IMS to be an effective central media server on your network. Documentation...

Customisable Watermarking

If you wish, you can protect your library and only offer low resolution preview images that are marked with a customised watermark graphic. Right-click counter-measures and specialist software protection of images ensures honest use of your pictures. This system means there is no need for complicated post-production in PhotoShop, and IMS can support selective watermarking only for those users where it is appropriate. Documentation...

Automatic creation of thumbnails, monochrome versions

Whenever you upload an image to IMS, or change relevant site options, thumbnails and larger previews of the image are automatically generated. Monochrome verions of pictures are just a click away, so there is no need to undertake this production work in a graphics package.

Lightboxes for collaborative working

If you are working on a project, you can keep all of the images that you need for that project together in a Lightbox, even if they come from different albums in IMS. Once all of the pictures are together, the Lightbox can be saved as a collection or shared with other users instantly.

Download ZIP archives

Whenever you need to retrieve more than one image - for example for backups or to create a collection of pictures to send to a customer on CD - you can use IMS's built in ZIP archive tool to generate a suitable archive. At any time, you can download your lightbox as a ZIP file, too. Documentation

Automatic image rotation

Some modern cameras contain tilt sensors. When you upload an image from these devices into IMS, IMS will automatically detect this and will rotate the image so it will always be the right way up. IMS can also search for portrait or landscape images - perfect when you know you need a particular image orientation for the front of a document, for instance.

Built-in email server

IMS contains its own email server and so is able to alert you, or your users, to events as required. For example, you can choose to notify users whenever new materials are added to an album to which they have access. IMS can also be set to inform you when images are about to expire, when new users register or when users request permission to upload or download material.

Atom feeds of recent updates

Smart Folders and Events can be exposed as industry-standard feeds (with or without thumbnails). This provides a simple but flexible way to inform clients of new content in your IMS and also to integrate with other websites. Documentation...
