Convert media from any graphics format

Third Light IMS includes a powerful download tool, that allows you and your customers to retrieve image data from IMS at specific resolutions, document sizes and optionally crop to specific sizes.

The download functions of IMS allow cropping, rescaling and conversion between image formats Our digital asset management solution also provides cropping, rescaling and conversion between image formats

Images can be retrieved in any supported format, not just the original file format. For example, you can upload a TIFF but download a JPEG.

Third Light IMS downloads offer a realistic alternative to expensive desktop graphics packages, with a wide range of supported formats and special graphics settings made accessible to anyone, in a wizard-based process. IMS can protect your files by adding watermarks, setting resolution limits or protecting from stitching tools, too.

With Third Light IMS, you can be sure that your users download image files to a pre-determined size for compliance in corporate documents, presentations or webpages. Avoid resizing images after download for a case study or the website homepage by having IMS do it for you on demand.

Publish files as URLs

IMS is the perfect media server for your network, allowing you to host images, videos and other content through our Publishing tool. When a file is 'published', instead of interactively downloading the file through IMS, it can be accessed directly with a fixed URL from your IMS server.

Publishing files through IMS avoids downloading copies, and provides enhanced tracking on how files are used. For example, published files can be embedded in your intranet as tags, or referred to in emails directly. Using a link, not an attachment means emails open faster and use up less server space.

Each time the file is loaded your IMS server will record the additional hit and update the graphs as well as other internal auditing logs.

Customisable watermarking

If you wish, you can protect your library and only offer low resolution preview images that are marked with a customised watermark graphic to deter those who might avoid the proper download procedures. Right-click counter-measures and specialist software protection of images ensures honest use of your pictures.

This system means there is no need for complicated post-production in PhotoShop, and IMS can support selective watermarking only for those users where it is appropriate.

Customisable watermarks enable you to protect your valuable assets

Automatic creation of thumbnails, monochrome versions

Whenever you upload an image to IMS, or change relevant site options, thumbnails and larger previews of the image are automatically generated. Monochrome versions of pictures are just a click away, so there is no need to undertake this production work in a graphics package. Even the largest files load quickly in IMS.

Download ZIP archives

Whenever you need to retrieve more than one image - for example for backups or to create a collection of pictures to send to a customer on CD - you can use IMS's built in ZIP archive tool to generate a suitable archive. At any time, you can download your lightbox contents as a ZIP file, too.

Automatic image rotation

All modern cameras contain tilt sensors. When you upload an image, IMS will automatically detect the camera orientation and rotate the image so it will always be the right way up. IMS can also search for portrait or landscape images - perfect when you know you need a particular image orientation for the front of a document, for instance.

Duplicate image detection

Third Light Appliances perform automated scanning to find duplicate images, based on visual matching. IMS makes it simple to perform a rapid scan of your entire IMS system for duplicates, then quickly recover wasted space by removing unnecessary copies.

Find duplicate images and remove them to save storage

The duplication detection system works on the visual characteristics of the images, and is able to detect images that are not precisely identical. For example, different cropping, aspect ratios or file sizes, as well as other subtle differences caused by compression or differing metadata tags are all taken into account.

Built-in email server

IMS contains its own email server and so is able to alert you, or your users, to events as required. For example, you can choose to notify users whenever new materials are added to an album to which they have access. IMS can also be set to inform you when images are about to expire, when new users register or when users request permission to upload or download material.

Atom feeds of recent updates

FeedSmart Folders and Events can be exposed as industry-standard feeds (with or without thumbnails). This provides a simple but flexible way to inform clients of new content in your IMS and also to integrate with other websites.
