Creating embed links to digital assets

Convenient File Sharing to an ‘Embed’ URL

The ability to publish files to a URL can provide a powerful way to implement central control of digital assets across your website. It’s ideal for delivering video content, images at specific sizes or date-limited content – and it works equally well as an intranet, email newsletter or web site delivery mechanism.

In Third Light IMS, you can enable and disable use of an image, video or audio file from a single point of control and the feature includes usage statistics that report how often an asset is used. You can also choose to watermark the media or put expiry and embargo dates in place.

How to create an embed link

To publish a file as an embed link, use the Download Wizard to download the file. Select Publish to URL when prompted for Delivery Method on the final stage of the download.

When a file is published, IMS assigns a URL with a short coded key for your download. A published URL looks like this:

The key is a unique identifier for a particular published file to differentiate it from other published files for retrieval and reporting purposes.
